I need it: Marc by Marc Jacobs tee

Marc (by Marc) Jacobs has done it again.  Every season I covet at least one of his tees.  How amazing is this whimsical owl design?

This tee ($88) would look so cute paired with a military-inspired jacket for fall.  Or wear it alone with skinny jeans and flats…  Or just buy it and have it shipped directly to Raleigh Fashionista Corporate Headquarters so I can wear it with with a military-inspired jacket or skinny jeans and flats!

You can’t escape it

Despite the fact that temperatures are still in the 90’s, fall is on its way.   And the best evidence is hanging on the racks at just about every store in the mall.  So, today I bring you an excellent transition piece from Banana Republic.

This cotton/silk blend top ($60) is lightweight enough to be appropriate in warm weather but the rich color is great for fall.

I like how they’ve styled it here – with a belt but if that’s not your thing, I think it would look equally excellent tucked into a pair of wide-leg trousers.

A Fashionista’s Folly

I’ve sang the praises of Gilt Groupe before but today, it’s got me a little bummed.  You see, featured in the current Marc by Marc Jacobs sale is a top I bought just over a year ago when it was part of the current collection.

See?  Here I am wearing it (con cardigan)  in Austria last May:

{Please ignore my clever handmade “No Smoking” sign.  Those Austrians are quite the nicotine fiends.}

And I have to say, seeing it offered up for the bargain basement price of $68 is slightly disheartening.

But!  Let my loss can be your gain if you happen to like this particular top, have an extra $68 in your pocket and are the proud owner of a Gilt Groupe membership.

Top it off

I can’t take credit for finding this summer top by T-Bags ($87.50 at Outnet.com) as I saw it featured on The Cut.  But I liked it so much and it was such a steal that I just had to show it here.

The breezy crepe, the tribal-ish color combinations and print and the chic chain detail come together to make the perfect summer camisole.  And really, ladies – how can you not love a top that comes pre-accessorized?!?

You oughta know: Martin + Osa

I’m probably way late to the game on this one but I’ve only fairly recently discovered Martin + Osa.  If you’re unfamiliar, it’s sort of on par with Banana Republic (style and price wise).  It’s actually owned by American Eagle Outfitters, which scared me at first since I’m way past the acceptable AE age range.  But they have some really lovely pieces at really reasonable prices.  Especially when you shop the sale…

Per esempio:  This gorgeous abstract print tee is currently going for a rock bottom $19.95 (down from $69.50).  It’s also available in red and is the perfect accompaniment for a pair of white shorts this summer.  Throw on some gorgeous metallic sandals and you’re golden!  (That was a horrible pun and completely unintentional if you can believe it.)

Fashionista’s note:  This image isn’t the best representation of this top but the Martin + Osa website isn’t really set up to pull images off the product pages so I had to settle for the main sale page picture.  Click on the image to go directly to the product page for better views.

Wear it like it’s hot

Evidently, it’s bargain week around here.  To be more accurate, my first two posts of the week turned out to be of the budget variety and I decided to stick with the theme because it helps me narrow my focus when I’m looking for things to feature…

Today’s find comes to us courtesy of the Anthropologie sale.

I’m loving the color combinations, the retro-ish print and the addition of embroidery at the neckline.  This top ($39.95) has casual summer day written all over it.  With shorts and an embellished ethnic-inspired sandal, it’s the height of comfy chic.

On the cheap

Let’s start the week with a big-time bargain.  This cotton/Modal blend tank ($14.50) is available only at Old Navy.com and comes in a rainbow of colors including red, pink, sea green and the deep blue you see below.  Old Navy is always good for inexpensive and cute summer tops and dresses.  Granted, they may only last you through Labor Day…  But at $10 to $15 bucks a pop, who cares?  Go ye therefore and stock up!
