This morning, I was snooping around on Piperlime looking for some shoe suggestions for a friend in need of advice and I saw that they had a ton of bags (and shoes) on sale. Here’s my pick for best of the bunch:

While it may be difficult to tell from this photo, the Bender bag by Foley + Corinna (on sale for $259.99, down from $485) is actually a chocolate color. The leather is glazed to give it a glossy look – which I love for fall and winter. And at 15″ x 16″, it’s plenty big.
In my professional (Disclaimer: I use the term “professional” very loosely.) opinion, this is a steal considering we’re headed into the colder months. Kind of like finding the perfect pair of riding boots on sale in July…
I love grey as an alternative neutral to black and this BCBG clutch (on sale at Saks for $91.98) is no exception. Equally perfect with jeans and flats or a dress and heels, this bag would get a lot of use in anyone’s closet.

Larger than it looks online (14″ long by 7″ tall to be exact), it’s definitely big enough for all your evening out essentials. The details make the bag and in this case it’s the chunky silvertone hardware and bold orange faille lining. Stunning!
I’ve been a titch obsessed with bags in bright colors lately so this Kooba definitely caught my eye.

At 12″ tall x 18″ long x 6″ wide, the Talia would easily fit all the junk that I insist on lugging around. (Admit it. You’re guilty too.) It also comes in blue and black and is currently on sale at Shopbob for $437.50, marked down from $625.00.
So the size is right, the color is right and the price is definitely right. But if all that weren’t enough to get you, Shopbop also has free ground shipping on domestic orders.
Carlos Falchi is not a designer one typically equates with bargains. But thanks to Target, that will soon change.

Falchi, known for high-priced handbags in exotic skins, is the latest addition to the list of designers bringing high fashion to the masses. The collection will be available this Fall/Winter (I’m getting varying dates on the actual launch) and will include faux python in jewel tones like plum and teal, with splashes of neutrals.
This should be interesting as it’s very difficult to make faux snakeskin look…well…not cheap and plastic-y (for lack of a better term). I’m pretty excited to see the end result of this collaboration first hand. If it works, fab! But if it doesn’t, I fear for mine eyes.
I’m a big fan of Kooba bags, with my current favorite being my moss green Sienna. The leather is so buttery soft and slouchy I almost want to curl up on it and take a nap. However, if there were another Kooba that could possibly claim the Sienna’s top spot, it might be the Blake shoulder tote ($645). What a beauty…

It’s classic Kooba styling, with buckle and zipper functional details standing out. And I love that the shoulder straps are adjustable from 9 inches to 16 inches. Wonder if the Mister would sign off on a “Happy Trip to California” present? A girl needs to make a good impression when wine-tasting, no?
Once again, I’m a smitten kitten. Rebecca Minkoff has sent my pulse all aflutter with this beautiful bag.

While the Nikki bag ($595) is great in its own right, what makes this one so special for me is the color – lapis. I love a bag in an interesting color but it’s not always practical to buy a bright yellow or kelly green purse. (Don’t get me wrong, that certainly hasn’t stopped me. Hello, MbMJ Totally Turnlock Farida in purple…) But this rich deep blue delivers a color punch without sacrificing practicality. If it’s possible for something to be understated and a showstopper at the same time, this might be the only piece pulling it off.
Surprise, surprise! Tomorrow’s post has arrived early. This is time-sensitive information so I wanted to get it out as quickly as possible. Consider it an “early edition”.
For those of you who don’t yet know about Gilt Groupe, let me enlighten you. They sell designer overruns at a fraction of the original price (up to 70% off). Each day (at noon), they feature specific designers, whose drastically marked down wares will be available for 38 hours.
Quantities are limited and styles sometimes go fast so if you want to be sure to get a good selection when your favorite designer pops up, it’s a good idea to set a reminder on your iCal. (You can see in advance when sales are coming up.)
Gilt Groupe is open only to members and membership is by invitation only but don’t let that discourage you. If anyone wants an invitation, just drop me a note on The Raleigh Fashionista Facebook page or leave a comment here and you’ll be good to go!
So, now that you know all about Gilt Groupe, here’s the reason for the tutorial… They are currently running a pretty amazing sale on beautiful Lauren Merkin clutches. Gorgeous bags in lots of colors and silhouettes are available as I write this. (Some have already sold out though.) And I’m sure I don’t have to tell anyone that clutches are the accessory of the moment. Honestly, they are definitely a trend so I wouldn’t recommend spending a lot on one because who knows how long the trend will stick around. (I got a relatively inexpensive one in a great raspberry color at Gigi’s Boutique here in Raleigh but that’s a story for another day…) But this is a great way to get a quality designer bag on the serious cheap.

For example, check out this beauty. Originally $225, and currently on sale for $98. Be quick about it – the sale ends on April 22 at midnight!
