About The Raleigh Fashionista

When I was in 4th grade, I wanted to be a fashion designer.  Much to my dismay, I quickly found out I couldn’t draw.  So I did the next best thing.  I majored in Fashion Marketing and Merchandising at college, devoured fashion magazines and shopped as much as my budget would allow.

I love bags.  (Louis Vuitton and Chloe, if you please.)  I love scarves.  (Missoni and Burberry, thank you very much.)  I love exceptionally gorgeous or interesting tees.  (Marc by Marc Jacobs or J. Crew will do just fine.)  I love designer on a dime.  (Hello, Target’s GO International collaborations.)  I love to window shop where I can’t yet afford to buy.  (See you in my dreams, Chanel.)

In short, I’m just another girl with a passion for fashion.  Welcome to my world.

I also majored in fashion merchandising in College, and am curious where you are working in Raleigh? Your site is great and I am happy to have found it! 🙂

    Great job~

    Hi Melissa,

This is it – I’m working at “The Raleigh Fashionista”! 🙂 I recently moved back to Raleigh after a three year stint in London (we were there for my husband’s job) and decided to get back to what I love – fashion. I’m hoping to parlay this into a career in fashion writing.

Thanks so much for your nice comments and I’m glad you like the site!

    Hi Heather,

LOVE the blog! I learn something new every time I read it.

What is your take on Evisu jeans?

    Hi Christi,

Thanks! I’m so glad you like it. I’m having a lot of fun doing it!

I actually have somewhat mixed feelings on Evisu. They’re not so much my personal style, but I fully appreciate the craftsmanship that goes into them. From the painted back pockets to the vintage quality they achieve (due to the denim being woven on old-style looms), Evisu has definitely created a product that stands out from the rest of the pack.

    Hi Heather

I love reading your site and appreciate your style and aesthetic vision.

I am something of a magazine addict (currently have an unlimited mag budget as I am ‘stuck’ at home with my four month old baby and definitely need some light relief!). I was wondering if you have any favourite fashion (or other) magazines – anything you find interesting or inspirational.

    Just curious…

    Hi Tara,

Thanks so much for your comment! I understand what you mean about being a magazine addict – all too well…

My favorites are Vogue, In Style and Lucky. Although, I see that you’re using the British-English spelling of “favourite” so perhaps you’re not in the US? If that’s the case, I don’t think Lucky is available outside the States but one of my favorite UK mags that’s similar is Grazia. I really miss Grazia, actually!

wow – keen spelling eye! i didn’t know that you odd americans spelled it differently! i’m in australia and haven’t seen Lucky around. i’ll keep an eye out for it at the shops with good selections of international mags.

  8. I have recently discovered your fashion blog. I do marketing for North Hills and help coordinate the blogs on our updated website.

Just wanted to introduce myself and see if you would be interested in exploring some opportunities for us to link to each other and help keep both blogs up to date with the latest info.

    Let me know!

    Hi Anna,

Thanks for your comment! I emailed you on Monday regarding the marketing opportunity you mentioned. Let me know here if you didn’t receive it…

Look forward to talking with you,

    Hi Heather,

I love your site! I need some advice. I need a new watch. It seems that chunky watches (particularly in white) are all the rage these days. I like that look, but need something that would also be appropriate to wear to work. Can you do a post on watches? I’d love something on the affordable side (under $200 maybe).

    Hi Susan,

I’m happy to do some research on watches for you! Since I don’t wear a watch, I often forget about them.

Thanks for your comment and the content suggestion! (They are always welcome…)
