Kooba crazy

I’m a big fan of Kooba bags, with my current favorite being my moss green Sienna.  The leather is so buttery soft and slouchy I almost want to curl up on it and take a nap.  However, if there were another Kooba that could possibly claim the Sienna’s top spot, it might be the Blake shoulder tote ($645).  What a beauty…

It’s classic Kooba styling, with buckle and zipper functional details standing out.  And I love that the shoulder straps are adjustable from 9 inches to 16 inches.  Wonder if the Mister would sign off on a “Happy Trip to California” present?  A girl needs to make a good impression when wine-tasting, no?

Light as a feather

I discovered the J.Crew featherweight cardigan ($59.50) last year during one of my shopping rampages that became a staple of my visits back to the US from London.  (When you’re looking at a 2.1 exchange rate, it feels like they’re just giving stuff away over here so Jason and I often came over with near-empty suitcases and took them back bulging full of new clothes.)  As soon as I started wearing mine, I wished I’d bought it in a few more colors besides navy.

It’s made of cotton in a 16-gauge knit.  For those of you who don’t speak textile-ese, that means cool, comfy, and light as paper.

I’ve worn mine about a billion times since I bought it and I plan on snatching up some additional colors this time around.

Sweet tee

I’ve  mentioned on here before my great love of tees.  I found this organic cotton one by Edun ($65) at Saks and kind of want it.  Now.  In my closet.

It’s an interesting take on leopard print, being that it’s black and grey and the print doesn’t cover the whole top as animal prints usually do.  The design carries over to the back as well – which I love because if there’s one thing that stinks about tees, it’s that sometimes it can look like you’re just slumming it in a plain old t-shirt from the back, though the design on the front may be exceptional.

I love how this is styled also, with distressed straight-leg denim and thong sandals.  This is the perfect way to carry off a tee in the summer.  Mind you, the sandals are Tory Burch, so we’re not exactly talking $1 flip-flops from Old Navy…but you get the idea.

Bag yourself a bargain

Looks like the department stores are gearing up for their summer sales early. It remains to be seen whether there will be drastic markdowns a la Saks during the holidays (they were practically paying me to take stuff) but 30% off designer bags is nothing to sniff at!

Oh, honey…no.

Jeggings.  What awful images does this word conjure up for you?  Whatever you thought, it’s worse.

This photo makes a little part of me die every time I look at it.

Whitney Port, while I like you and think you are just about the best listener and facial reactor in the not-so-reality show world, you have GOT to quit the jeggings.

This is one of those truly horrible “trends” (I refuse to remove the quotes until I see at least 10 celebs wearing them) that swoop in every few years and claim young, naive, fashion victims.

Die, jeggings.  Die.

A totally important designer

I know you can’t see a whole lot of the dress in this photo but, best I can tell, it’s another hit for the First Lady.  Michelle Obama spoke at the American Ballet Theatre’s Spring Gala in New York this week and wore an immaculately cut Azzedine Alaia dress.

I think she looks stunning.  Before too long, I’m going to run out of adjectives to describe her!

This is completely irrelevant but I remember the first time I ever heard of this designer was in the movie Clueless.  I’ll never forget Cher telling her mugger that she couldn’t get down on the pavement because she was wearing an Alaia – a “totally important designer”.
